ENTECH hits 25 – up, up but almost full!

ENTECH returns for its 25th anniversary in March 2020 with unprecedented demand for exhibitor space – leaving the roadshow with no way to grow. The 2019 tour tested the boundaries for growth, adding 10% more than the previous year filling the smallest venue on the tour. But the format will not change, as it works for everyone.

Interestingly the buying power of trade visiting ENTECH has risen from around $100k per person to $120k, with total buying power now at $313.4 million, based on actual registration data across the East Coast and pre-registrations for South and Western Australia.

ENTECH was always intended to be manageable for trade visitors who can expect to see all exhibitors in a space around 1,000 square metres. Larger format trade shows with large intricate displays become hard to navigate in 4 hours – the average visitor time. Sydney and Melbourne have very few exhibition spaces sized around 1,000 square metres, and ENTECH is always limited by the smallest venue on a five city tour.

The other limiting factor for ENTECH is load-in time, with the format of showing in one city on a Tuesday and the next on a Thursday meaning same day load-in is essential at 6am. 2019 saw the limits set at four semi’s, any more would create unknown risks. The trade show is designed to be set up by exhibitors in two hours from 9am, pulled down in one, and is accordingly space limited.

2020 dates are similar to 2019, but in reverse order:

  • Perth Convention Centre, Thursday 5 March 2020.
  • Adelaide Showgrounds, Tuesday 10 March
  • Sydney Hordern Pavilion, Thursday 12 March
  • Melbourne Convention Centre, Tuesday 17 March
  • Brisbane Showground RICC, Thursday 19 March

New for 2020 is the ‘SPECIFIER/CONSULTANT SUPER BREAKFAST’ from 9am and the classic PA shootout, where we compare a 1979 PA with the best of today. Steve Devine and Peter Twartz’s Super Trooper follow spot may also make a return appearance, to test the nerves of venue safety officers everywhere when we strike the arc.
