About the Role:

The Audio-Visual Engineer takes a leadership role in the evaluation, design and development of Audio-Visual systems, architecture, and services and in overseeing the successful delivery of AV for learning and collaboration spaces. The incumbent will be responsible for creating and maintaining appropriate audiovisual standards, designs, principles & guidelines, and for ensuring AV installation and modification work is carried out to Melbourne Polytechnic’s standards across all campuses. The role will involve consultation with industry AV experts, AV project managers, teachers, and learning designers to ensure the architectural system requirements are met. The incumbent will also be expected to strategically plan the design, development and evaluation of high-quality learning spaces to optimise performance and use of technology for learning and teaching.

 

Duties:

  • Explore and develop best practice in existing and emerging AV technologies for learning and collaboration environments.
  • Manage the effective implementation of all AV projects affecting Learning & Collaboration Environments, ensuring that they are in line with the business requirements of the area and the wider Melbourne Polytechnic community.
  • Analyse and document user needs and business requirements and review associated processes to support blended and online teaching.
  • Strategically plan, design, implement and evaluate (functionality, quality/reliability, ability to integrate with our system designs, cost, support etc.) appropriate audiovisual standards, guidelines and technology for Melbourne Polytechnic.

Skills and Experience Required: 

  • Tertiary degree in a relevant discipline and/or extensive experience in AV design, flexible learning development, staff development and learning spaces in tertiary education.
  • Strong technical knowledge and skills across a wide variety of audiovisual technologies, including but not limited to, control systems such as Crestron/AMX/Extron, audio systems and sound reproduction, video and data projection and screen technologies. High level proficiency in the planning, designing, implementing and evaluating of formal and informal innovative learning spaces.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in the implementation, testing and commissioning of complex audio, video, control and ICT systems.
  • Demonstrated experience programming in web-app orientated languages and frameworks such as JavaScript, NodeJS, BootstrapVue, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience with audio visual service strategies, technology roadmaps and program plans with an ability to exploit technology trends.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of support, design, project and procurement documentation.
