About the Role
The Senior Lecturer & Stage Manager works closely with the Head of Department to support the delivery, design and overall management of our Bachelor of Acting and Bachelor of Musical Theatre. This role also plays an integral part in supporting students throughout their educational journey with JMC, including pastoral care and academic support. This role will also operate as a stage manager for key student productions across their education journey.
What’s involved?
- Assist in the development and delivery of engaging curriculum and content that meets the needs of the industry and student expectations.
- Working with and supporting amazing students and setting them up for an amazing career.
- Maintaining a high level of academic integrity amongst the department and student body.
- Execute stage management duties periodically to support curriculum delivery & enabling learning outcomes.
- Coordinate rehearsals, pre-production meetings, and facilitate production plans.
- Deliver training in stage management and crewing to meet the needs of the department and support curriculum delivery
- Assist in the general administration of the department including student enquiries
- Working collaboratively across JMC to develop content and opportunities to showcase students works and build interest in the program.
- Working closely with the Head of Department to monitor student satisfaction, management and retention with a continuous improvement mindset.

Are you who we are looking for?
You will know this role is for you if you:
- Have a master’s degree or higher in stage and/or production management, production design, or a closely related field
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the delivery of higher education studies or industry equivalent, specifically stage management.
- Continue to maintain your currency of professional expertise and industry knowledge
- High level knowledge or experience in a specific field related to theatrical live performance.
- Previous experience working closely with students, with a key focus on pastoral care
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organisation and time management skills
- Have a Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain)
