A veteran of the Australian event industry is set to take an exciting innovation in crowd control to the world. Sydney-based Matthew Kenny is the newly appointed General Manager for Framelock Barriers™, a business distributing one of the safest and most effective crowd control barrier systems in Australia.
Invented and designed by Northern Territory innovator Colin West, the award winning Framelock Crowd Control Barrier System is already used at events and venues around Australia.
Framelock Barriers™ use a deceptively simple lightweight design that interlocks to create a safe and effective barrier system that is easy to assemble and transport. The Framelock Barriers™ can be quickly configured in different ways, with gates and corners, and include a step where police or crowd controllers can stand, as well as detachable counter tops.
The new General Manager has 30 years’ experience in the live event industry across Australia and the world including in the United States, Asia Pacific (India, China), United Kingdom and New Zealand.
Matthew’s career in the event industry began as a tech loading equipment into trucks before taking him through all stages of event production including production manager, production designer, event director, technical producer and technical director.
Matthew, who loves the rewards of putting on a successful event, has an impressive repertoire of events including indoor and outdoor public events, concerts, festivals, large scale, high-end corporate events, broadcast and theatre.
Matthew, who has worked with Colin West previously, said he was drawn back to work for Framelock Barriers™ because he was so impressed with the barrier system.
“It is the most effective, efficient crowd control barrier system on the market worldwide,” Matthew said. “From my experience in the industry, Framelock Barriers™ are faster and easier to set up, with 30 metres set up in 15 minutes.
“I am a stickler for safety – I am passionate about it, and I think the safety rating of the Framelock Barrier™ at any event or production is unequalled.”
With the barrier system already being used in the Middle East and United States, Matthew is working on several projects to showcase the Framelock Barriers™ system in Europe and South Africa.
The innovative free-standing design has won national acclaim with Framelock Barriers™ taking out an Engineers Australia Excellence Award for Small Business Ventures and Projects and the Northern Territory Minister for Business and Employment Innovation Award. The barrier system was selected as a finalist for Best Product in the 2013 Australian Event Awards 2013.
The Framelock Crowd Control Barrier System meets or exceeds more than seven national and international safety standards.
The system is renowned for its rapid assembly, range of accessories, affordability, lightweight aluminium design, improved safety for operators and staff, and aesthetic appeal, combining to make it a formidable competitor on a world scale.
“We are excited to have Matthew on the team to lead Framelock Barriers™ and he brings vast experience to the business,” Colin said.
