This Press Release just in:The major $1 billion site redevelopment of the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour has not been without controversy. Yesterday an article in CX News online website criticised the State Government’s decision to demolish a satisfactory facility and the three-year relocation to Glebe Island as “half baked”.O’Maras Valuers & Auctioneers has heavily promoted the auction sales. Auction promotion has included print advertising, public relations, direct mail, wide media release distribution to all national newspapers and relevant journals, and heavy social media campaigning.
As a result, strong interest has been generated across all asset categories with many items fetching attractive prices. In fact a number of sales have achieved over two hundred per cent above the independent valuation.
The auctions are continuing throughout this week in a series of timed online auctions. Auctions still underway include audio visual controllers, staging, professional video and audio equipment, IT equipment, commercial kitchen and catering equipment
This is a landmark sale which is expected to be of interest to high production caterers, commercial kitchens, auditoriums, function centres, party hire companies, event production companies, entertainment venues, pubs, clubs, restaurants and plant hire companies.
“These auctions should be of significant interest to the community particularly small business owners who can access world class quality equipment at auction prices,” said Tim O’Mara of O’Maras Valuers & Auctioneers.
Many of the auctions close this week. Highlights of the December auctions soon to close include three Yamaha conservatory grand pianos, cameras, camcorders, rigging and trusses.
Throughout January, an expansive list of smaller items from the Centre will also go under the virtual hammer. These include:
• crockery and cutlery for 5,000 people
• glassware
• large quantities of tables and chairs
• smaller AV items including TVs and LCD monitors. For all the latest auction information and to register to bid, please visit www.omaras.com.au.
